Fruit comes in many forms.

We are lucky in Australia because many fruits are grown here with the varied climates around the country – check out our Seasonal Guide to Fruit

Fruits are our body’s natural sweet snack. Many come in their own wrappers so are easy to eat on the go and take with you to work/school.

You may have heard diet advice that says avoid bananas or pineapple as they are high in sugar. Poor advice, as they are going to be better for you than any processed rubbish!

Serving Sizes

These are just rough guides and since most of us don’t eat enough anyway there is little chance of eating too many serves!!

One Serve is approximately one banana, apple, pear, mandarin or orange.

Melon, Pineapple and PaPaw/Papaya are large, so One Serve is about 150g, which in practical terms is about 1/4 piece i.e. one will provide four serves.

For grapes, strawberries, blueberries and cherries about 1 cup equals One Serve.

No excuses now for not eating at least 2 Serves of Fruit a day…..
