Although botanically a fruit, tomatoes are treated as a vegetable and are very versatile. They are also available all year round in a can so you can cook with them easily. Fresh is best for salads when in season in the summer. Tomatoes come in many varieties and sizes too.

Storage = In fridge once ripe.
Preparation = can be eaten whole with skin and seeds and raw. Just remove the green stalk!
Cooking = puree, paste, passata, crushed, diced, whole or from a can as an ingredient. Even Sun dried or Roasted.
Use = sauces, casseroles, stews, salads or as a snack.
